As a major agricultural export province, Shandong has relied on the advantages of the vegetable industry this year to promote agricultural exports through measures such as cultivating agricultural product clusters and building Shandong's superior brands. The export volume is expected to reach a new high and lead the country for 22 consecutive years.
It is now the season when a large number of open-air vegetables such as cabbage and cabbage are on the market. In Qingdao, a large amount of cabbage was packed by Qingdao Siying International Trade Co., Ltd. and shipped abroad. In the first quarter of this year, affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, vegetable exports declined. In particular, the inspection and quarantine problems encountered in the export of fresh vegetables made the company difficult. The local government promptly helped companies optimize production processes, change their business ideas, and produce refined vegetable products. The export volume of cabbage increased, and the price increased from 1,400 yuan per ton in the same period last year to 2,500 yuan.
In the first quarter of this year, Shandong’s agricultural exports were 91.1 billion yuan, an increase of 4.5% over the same period last year, accounting for 23.9% of the country’s total agricultural exports, accounting for an increase of 1.1 percentage points over the same period last year. Vegetables have been the main export commodities of Shandong Province in recent years. As daily necessities, vegetable consumption has been relatively less affected by the epidemic. Relying on the large-scale advantages of vegetable cultivation and long-term stable international cooperation in Shandong Province, in the first two quarters, vegetable export volume and export value increased by 8.2% and 7.1% respectively, and the contribution rate to the province’s agricultural exports in the first three quarters reached 38. %.
This year, in response to the decline in foreign orders and the decline in export volume during the epidemic, Shandong has guided agricultural product processing companies to stabilize their corporate confidence and leverage platform carriers to open up the international market. Encourage agricultural product export companies to use multiple channels such as international exhibitions and marketing networks to promote the diversification of export markets. At the same time, we will play the role of a demonstration zone for the quality and safety of exported agricultural products, increase the added value of exported agricultural products, and continuously meet the needs of foreign markets.
